I’d like to start a publication
Nevermind the Harvard Business Review, I’m going to start my own.
Topic One–Nobody is Productive at 4:00
When I started working in a office just about a fortnight ago, I was reminded of a curious phenomenon that I first learned many moons prior at my first desk job: people can’t function in the afternoon. Maybe it’s just me, but I legitimately feel like a pile of mush starting at about 2:00. Not that I feel especially tired, but that I got nuttin left to give, O corporate America. Things start to blur, my ass gets numb, and improper semi-colons begin to escape me (okay, the last one is an exaggeration). But really, is anybody productive for all eight (+) hours every day? Does anybody work diligently straight through until the clock strikes 5:00 (+)? I don’t know, man. I can usually only edit/write difficult things for long periods of time in the morning. Then I’m tapped out. Granted, I can trudge through things but there’s this automatic sense of “I’ll have to check this again in the morning to make sure I did this right.”
Weigh in, fellow cubicle monkeys.
